This session reviews the requirements of 14 CFR part 65 subpart E, which concerns aviation repairmen. It presents the language of part 65 in the context of parts 121, 135 and 145 as well as agency guidance regarding the management of repairman applications. Throughout, the session connects and compares the repairman’s requirements to those of the mechanic’s certificate issued under part 65.

 

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this session, participants will have the tools to understand:

•       How eligibility requirements for repairman certificates relate to the applicant’s specific job and his or her employer.

•       The rules impacting how air carriers or repair stations may utilize repairmen and what tasks these individuals may perform.

•       The relationship between the work of the employer, the experience and skills of the repairman and the necessity for a certificate in order to perform or supervise work.
